I have McAfee Internet Security 06. It comes with virus scan, firewall, spamkiller, and privacy service. Each of those programs alone runs you around $30. THe Suite is aobut $40 - $50.

Viruses are the least of your worry since they can be avoided easily - just don't be too trusting of ZIP Files, links and downloads. The thing about a virus is that YOU have to put it on the system - so you CAN avoid them. Spybots sneak in with downloads and cached files.

I think you can get them from hackers even if you dont download them if you dont have a firewall.

Have you turned your comp off in a while? Some times it can slow down if you leave it on for too long.
Also, the length its taking you to post could be purely the server for this site. Sometimes it runs slow.

*Giggle snort* "Hackers" are a thing of the past.. And actually the term was really Cracker, before that became a deorgratory term for skinny white men. The real cracker, one who could get into your system from online, was RARE. Just because they have your IP doesn't mean they could do anything. It took hours, and once in, it all matered wether or not the user was on and if he got frustrated enough to shut down the computer. An original cracker was just one who got your password and used it on your computer AT the computer's location. With Window's Security Updates, firewalls that are instaleld bY DEFAULT and browser support as well as even ISP support... Your chances of dealing with a cracker are slim to none. Those idiots you see on counter-strike and stuff, the ones that call themselves hackers? They ain't even that - they're just manipulating the data on THEIR machine. They can't go anywhere beyond that.
So, in short - don't worry about it. It's a thing of the past and anyone show-boating that they can do it is probably full of baloney.

Despite the guise of being a semi-useful topic...
The sheer amount of your own posts dominating it, particularly the long string of them without interruption, indicates that this is merely just that - a facade.
If you still need help with your computer, I suggest seeking a troubleshooting forum elsewhere.
